Antique pianos are a passion of ours, they are
the epitomy of elegance and style and even if you don't play they are
such beautiful pieces of furniture, and as such are always well admired,
they become the heart of a home, making a wonderful statement in any
room. Our pianos are carefully chosen and have to meet strict criteria,
both in looks and mechanically. Our favourite pianos other than the
obvious Bechstein, Steinway, Bluthner and Bosendorf are the more affordable
and highly regarded Antique Jon Broadwood Grand Pianos which often have
wonderful rosewood cases , Brinsmead pianos, well respected Challen
Baby Grand Pianos which are small enough for most modern day lounges,
and Melodic Collard and Collard Boudoir Grand Pianos , all of these
are English piano makers and have been producing beautiful pianos for
many Centuries.
Each piano is put through the workshop prior to delivery to ensure that the cases are in lovely condition, often we decide to traditionally French polish the cases to really give them the "wow" factor, each piano is checked by a technician to make sure all strings and hammers are good, and every piano is tuned prior to delivery, although you will probably find it may be necessary to have them retuned after 6 weeks of delivery as each piano takes a while to settle into its new environment. Most modern grand pianos are no longer made in this Country as it is such a time consuming operation and our skilled craftsmen over here just cant compete with China and Japan which is where the majority of modern grand pianos are now produced, the cases being spray finished as opposed to lovingly hand polished. We always have a good selection of antique piano stools which can also be found in our upholstery section Click Here |
