A wonderful example of a Georgian flame mahogany knife box, the serpentine
front is beautifully sculptured and and emphasised by attractive boxwood
and satinwood inlay. This is a feature of the whole box and all 3
feet, including the back 2, have wonderful inlay detailing to them.
The fall is highly flamed mahogany with a large conch shell as decoration,
this opens to reveal an interior which has now been converted for
stationary. The brass escution and the tiny brass handle above are
extremely nice features to this already highly desireable piece of
furniture. In wonderful original condition this is both decorative
and now highly useful.
