Circa
1880, a really impressive fine quality Marquetry Inlaid Rosewood Dresser.
Raised slightly from the floor by short tapered supports, the lower section
features a pair of mirrored cupboard doors each with a marquetry panel to their
centres. Below is an open shelf with a fine turned balustrade of small spindles
and above stunning inlaid spandrels to the arch . To either side are taller cupboards,
this time with large marquetry panels and a single arched mirror above and above
again a marquetry inlaid drawer.
The upper section is of equal beauty and quality
featuring a large central mirror with a superb marquetry panel above. Flanking
the mirror are glazed cupboards supported on fine turned and tapered spindles.
The doors each feature 5 bevelled clear glass sections with mirroring to the rear
of each cupboard giving any displayed article a real sense of pride of place within
the cabinet. Finally, this cabinet displays an amazing swan neck pediment again
profusely decorated in very fine scrolling marquetry. The quality of this piece
really is special, and coupled with its now warm honey colour and stunning condition
is certainly a piece we are proud to offer.
