Circa
1780, a George 111 Chest on Chest of small proportions, being only 68.75"
high and 42.5" Wide. This piece lends itself to either the bedroom or a ground
floor application. In lovely condition and although essentially a provincial piece
the mahogany has a lovely warm colour to the graduated drawers totalling 9, including
the 3 frieze drawers. Above these is a feature blind fret typical of this era
with the whole raised on bracket feet. The drawers are oak lined and all run particularly
smoothly. The handles whilst being of a similar period are not its original handles
but none the less are very attractive being of oval outline with matching key
escutions. Finally canted reeded corners as a feature finish this item beautifully.
