Stunning Decorative Rosewood Victorian Desk with marquetry inlay

A stunning example of a Victorian rosewood desk profusely covered in marquetry inlay. The desk comprises of deep central drawer flanked either side by 4 further drawers all covered in wonderful marquetry inlay of foliate design with bellflower decoration to the sides of the body of the desk. Fully locking with attractive brass handles of good quality. The whole stands on 8 slender tapering legs and brass casters. The desk has its original burgandy gilt tooled leather skive in good condition. This is a lovely example and highly desireable in excellent original condition which will be hard to duplicate. There is a small brass plaque at the back of the desk which reads "Presented to Rev A P and Mrs Wharton by their friends and parishioners Barnham Nov 1899" which adds to its history.
