Edwardian large Open Oak Library Bookcase

Circa 1900 a very high quality solid oak Library bookcase which comprises of 2 open shelved compartments each with 3 shelves (2 of which each side are adjustable) to the centre and flanking the ends are 3 superbly turned and carved pillasters fluted with square sections to their bases, turned lobed middle sections surmounted by square sections with foliate central leaf panels. The top comprises of a beautifully moulded cornice which contains the highly polished shelf top with inset mahogany panel making this area superb for displaying anything from silver photo frames, trophies to perhaps a model of a pond yatch. The shelf is a very distinctive feature of the bookcase in its own right. The end sections of the bookcase are recessed panels, highly figured and beautifully polished. Overall a gorgeous item of furniture in absolutely stunning condition, fully adjustable shelves (at present lined in cream but will be removed prior to delivery). This bookcase has spent the first century of its life in a Private Girls School in Devon and has been well loved and used daily.
